DOA, also known as Dioctyl Adipate, is a premium cold-resistant plasticizer widely used in industrial PVC manufacturing. It features excellent stretching efficiency and minimal color shift during heat processing, providing plastic end products with superior low-temperature toughness, strong UV light resistance, uniform softness, and premium surface texture.
As a classic cold-resistant secondary plasticizer, Dioctyl Adipate (DOA) delivers excellent stretching efficiency and undergoes only slight color discoloration after heating. It shows great compatibility with multiple thermoplastic resins including PVC, vinyl chloride copolymers, polystyrene, as well as various synthetic rubbers.
This plasticizer grants finished plastic goods outstanding low-temperature toughness, stable softness and strong light resistance, bringing a smooth and pleasant hand feel to end products. It is commonly blended with primary plasticizers like DOP and DBP for manufacturing cold-resistant agricultural films, frozen food packaging films, wire and cable insulation layers, artificial leather, plastic sheets, outdoor water hoses and other PVC items.
When applied to plastisol formulations, DOA helps lower the initial viscosity of paste systems and maintains stable viscosity during storage. However, DOA comes with relatively high volatility, and its performance in water resistance, anti-migration and electrical insulation is limited compared with other premium plasticizers. DOA has obtained official approval for food-contact packaging applications in many regions including the United States, France, Italy, Japan and the Netherlands.
